About the role

Job summary

An experienced Level Architect is sought to design and create immersive 3D environments for a third-person open-world game. The role emphasizes visual composition and collaboration within a creative team.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the development of at least one released 3D game.
  • A portfolio showcasing skills in composition, layout, lighting, color, and visual storytelling.
  • Proficiency in game engines such as Unity or Unreal, or similar internal engines.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software like Blender, Maya, or 3dsMax is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Design and layout levels using blockouts and 3D assets to create believable locations.
  • Develop grey box designs from basic briefs to establish foundations for further development.
  • Create detailed, untextured 3D models.
  • Iterate on location designs based on feedback and testing.
  • Collaborate with artists and designers to enhance level design and construction.

Skills

  • Strong artistic skills with a keen eye for visual composition.
  • Ability to adapt to existing visual styles while contributing original ideas.
  • Experience with world creation tools like World Machine or Quadspinner Gaea is a plus.

Education

  • Relevant experience in game development or a related field is preferred.
