Job summary

A position is available for an Optical Engineer specializing in fiber or free space optics within the Products & Automation team. The role involves overseeing collimators across various product lines, ensuring best practices in collimating fiber lasers, and leading new development projects to align with existing product standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in fiber and free space optics, either academically or in industry.
• Master’s degree, likely a PhD, in physics or optical engineering.
• Proficiency in optical lab skills such as characterization, fiber coupling, imaging, setup design, and instrumentation.
• Strong experimental and device design capabilities with the ability to conduct experiments that inform design decisions.
• Ability to perform thorough data analysis and make data-driven decisions.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Act as the product lead for collimators, ensuring robust design and compliance with product requirements.
• Streamline testing processes and initiate reliability studies to drive continuous improvement.
• Qualify new suppliers and ensure consistency with current product offerings.
• Convert product requirements into test specifications and oversee the execution of these tests.

• Excellent communication skills for collaboration within teams.

Education

• Master’s degree in physics or optical engineering; PhD preferred.
