Optical Engineer (Remote, Engineering)

Job summary

An Optical Engineer is sought to join a dynamic Products & Automation team, focusing on fiber and free space optics. The role involves leading product responsibilities for collimators and ensuring best practices in collimating fiber lasers.

Qualifications

• Experience in fiber and free space optics, either academically or in industry.
• Master’s degree, preferably a PhD, in physics or optical engineering.
• Proficiency in optical lab skills such as characterization, fiber coupling, imaging, setup design, and instrumentation.
• Strong background in experimental and device design, with the ability to conduct experiments that inform design decisions.
• Ability to perform thorough data analysis and make data-driven decisions.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the product lead for collimators across product lines, ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Convert product requirements into test requirements for robust design.
• Streamline testing processes and initiate reliability studies.
• Drive continuous improvement by qualifying new suppliers and enhancing product manufacturability and reliability.
• Lead new development projects, ensuring alignment with existing product portfolios and best practices.

Skills

• Strong experimental design and data analysis capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Education

• Master’s degree in physics or optical engineering, with a preference for candidates holding a PhD.

Tools

• Optical lab equipment for characterization, imaging, and setup design.
