Principal Engineer (Manufacturing Data, Remote)

Job summary

The Principal Engineer will act as the system owner for a data integration platform, focusing on high-performance manufacturing data solutions that facilitate analytics and decision-making across a global network. This role involves translating executive vision into actionable architectures and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s; 8+ years with a Master’s; or 5+ years with a PhD.
• At least 6 years of experience in Industry 4.0/manufacturing data, including operational technology (OT) environments and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of strategies and roadmaps for Industry 4.0 and manufacturing data.
• Establish enterprise standards for data contextualization and interoperability.
• Govern the data platform, including standards, configurations, and lifecycle management.
• Design and oversee Industrial DataOps pipelines for data integration.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and support audits.
• Monitor performance metrics and implement observability for data pipelines.
• Identify and manage architectural risks and technical debt.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Innovate and pilot improvements in data reliability and analytics.

Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with HighByte Intelligence Hub and ISA-95/ISA-88 data models.
• Familiarity with DataOps, streaming frameworks, and data quality tools.
• Validation expertise in GAMP5/CSA and experience with cloud data platforms.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
