QHSE Director (Defense, Remote)

Job summary

The role involves leading the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) initiatives in a high-tech defense organization, ensuring compliance with international standards and enhancing product integrity across the value chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in global Quality/QHSE leadership within regulated, high-tech industries such as defense or aerospace.
• Proven track record in defect reduction, execution stability, and QMS maturity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement QHSE strategy and policies.
• Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and AQAP.
• Manage quality governance and risk management processes.
• Drive digital QHSE initiatives and data governance.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts and manage non-conformance reports (NCR) and corrective action plans (CAPA).
• Ensure supplier quality requirements are met and oversee manufacturing quality and quality control (QC).
• Conduct audits and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Provide leadership and foster cross-functional collaboration.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of quality methodologies such as RCA, FMEA, and Control Plans.
• Proficient in configuration and document control for consistency and traceability.
• Strong digital QHSE literacy, utilizing data governance and dashboards for decision-making.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Tools

• Familiarity with quality management software and digital tools for data governance.
