About the role

Job summary

This role involves working within the Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) Department, focusing on the tech-transfer of upstream processes in biopharmaceutical production. The position requires collaboration across teams to ensure successful transitions from development to manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • PhD or M.Sc. in bioprocess engineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related field
  • Experience in process development and/or manufacturing in mammalian upstream processing (e.g., CHO cells)

Responsibilities

  • Enable successful tech-transfer of upstream processes from development into manufacturing and from clients
  • Support multiple projects involving microbial and mammalian processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process scale-up, seed train expansion, bioreactor cultivation, and clarification
  • Conduct risk assessments and troubleshoot technology transfer and manufacturing challenges
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP and regulatory requirements, assisting Manufacturing in resolving deviations

Skills

  • Proficiency in upstream processing techniques, including cell culture, fermentation, and bioreactor monitoring
  • Strong communication skills in English and ability to work in a dynamic environment

Education

  • Advanced degree (PhD or M.Sc.) in relevant scientific fields

Tools

  • Familiarity with documentation and risk assessment processes related to technology transfer
