Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The backend is primarily built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a focus on creating secure, reliable, and scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product work, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a solid understanding of both product and engineering aspects of the team’s domain.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform, focusing on performance and accessibility.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and frontend frameworks like Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering or a related field.
