Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for various products. The position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work on complex challenges that enable global operations for businesses.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and improving them through iteration.
• Ability to define specifications clearly, break down plans, and ensure quality through verification.
• Experience with Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements based on technical insights.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.

Skills

• Experience with Functional Programming languages (e.g., Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell) is a plus.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and modern frontend frameworks (React/Vue/Angular) is beneficial.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent practical experience preferred.
