Senior Systems Engineer (Defense, Remote)

Job summary

The role involves taking technical ownership of system design within complex projects focused on secure communication systems. Responsibilities include defining system architecture, driving requirements, and ensuring solutions meet operational and lifecycle constraints.

Qualifications

• Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
• Proven experience in complex systems engineering projects, including architecture, requirements, and integration
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate systems engineering activities within projects
• Own technical alignment across stakeholders and disciplines
• Mentor and guide engineers to ensure quality and consistency
• Define system architecture and key design decisions
• Own system requirements, ensuring structure, traceability, and quality
• Define verification strategies and ensure compliance with requirements
• Support system integration across interfaces and subsystems
• Evaluate new technologies and drive improvements in existing systems

Skills

• Experience with tactical data links (e.g., Link 16, Link 11, Link 22) or similar communication systems
• Knowledge of RF and communication technologies (HF, VHF, UHF)
• Familiarity with secure communication systems and MBSE approaches/tools
• Understanding of messaging systems such as MMHS

Education

• Degree in relevant engineering field
