1. Who we are

Jobs in English (jobsinenglish.dk) is an independent job board operated as a sole-trader business based in Denmark. We are the data controller for all personal data collected through this website.

Contact: hello@jobsinenglish.dk

2. What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

  • Account data — email address and password hash when you create an account. We use email as the primary login identifier.
  • Subscription data — payment status, subscription tier, and billing dates. We do not store card numbers; payments are handled by Stripe.
  • Usage data — saved jobs, job alert preferences, and application tracker entries you create voluntarily.
  • Analytics — anonymized page-view and event data collected via PostHog (EU-hosted). PostHog does not receive your email address or any personally identifiable information.
  • Email delivery logs — records of alert emails sent, used only to diagnose delivery problems.

3. Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the following legal grounds under GDPR:

  • Contract performance — providing the account, alerts, and premium subscription you have signed up for.
  • Legitimate interest — anonymized analytics to understand how the site is used and improve it.
  • Legal obligation — retaining billing records as required by Danish bookkeeping law.

4. Third-party services

  • Stripe — processes all payments. Stripe stores your card details and issues billing receipts. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • PostHog (EU region) — anonymized product analytics. No PII is sent to PostHog.
  • Mailgun / email provider — used to send job alert emails. Your email address is shared with our email delivery provider solely to deliver alerts you have requested.
  • Sentry — error monitoring. Sentry may capture anonymized stack traces; we configure it to exclude personally identifiable data from error reports.

5. Data retention

  • Account data — retained while your account is active, and deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
  • Billing records — retained for 5 years as required by Danish bookkeeping law (Bogføringsloven).
  • Analytics — aggregated and anonymized; no individual retention limit applies.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Lodge a complaint with Datatilsynet (the Danish data protection authority) at datatilsynet.dk

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@jobsinenglish.dk. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in, and a CSRF cookie required for form security. We do not use advertising cookies or sell any data to third parties.

PostHog sets a first-party analytics cookie. You can opt out of analytics tracking by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser settings, which we honour.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced via email to registered users. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
