About the role

Job summary

This role involves leading a team focused on enhancing observability and tracing within a large-scale distributed system. The position emphasizes collaboration, architecture design, and team management in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of industry experience in software development.
  • Proficient in Observability and Tracing tools (e.g., Otel, Tempo, Sentry).
  • Familiar with Metrics solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Thanos).
  • Experience in building Kubernetes operators using Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Strong background in large-scale Linux environments and cloud operations (AWS & GCP preferred).
  • Knowledge of TDD, CI/CD, and Chaos Engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers to build quality platforms.
  • Architect large-scale distributed tracing and metrics platforms.
  • Facilitate team retrospectives, capacity planning, and collaborative discussions.
  • Review and approve design proposals from team members.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions like “lunch and learn” demos.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively with local and remote teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and independence, with the ability to seek help when needed.

Education

  • Relevant degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred but not explicitly required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with observability tools and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
  • Experience with software development tools and methodologies relevant to DevOps and SRE practices.
