Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a cross-functional team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The backend is primarily built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in engineering with a focus on secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Experience in designing or improving automation workflows.
• Strong understanding of systems thinking, including specification definition and quality assurance.
• Proficiency with Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to major projects related to HR and Payroll products.
• Engage in product discussions, providing technical insights and suggestions for improvements.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the team’s domain.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Mentor junior engineers and assist in their professional development.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform, focusing on performance and API design.
• Develop reusable workflows to enhance team efficiency.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and frontend frameworks like Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular is advantageous.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering or a related field.

Tools

• Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, AWS, GitLab, CI/CD tools.
