Job summary

This position is part of the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) scheme, focusing on enhancing Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent, and Youth Health (SRMNCAH) within the WHO European Region. The role involves supporting countries in improving health systems and ensuring access to quality care across all life stages.

Qualifications

  • Nationals from eligible countries as per the Nedworc Foundation list.
  • Maximum age limit of 32 years as of December 31 of the application year.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the current SRMNCAH situation in WHO European Region countries, focusing on policies, services, and access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
  • Review the implementation of maternal and newborn health interventions and evaluate the quality of care for women and newborns.
  • Support Member States in adopting evidence-based interventions to enhance maternal and newborn health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with WHO and partner agencies to advance maternal and newborn health initiatives.
  • Advocate for SRHR and adolescent health in alignment with WHO standards.

Skills

  • Understanding of maternal and newborn health issues in the European context.
  • Ability to map and analyze health interventions and outcomes.
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills related to public health.

Education

  • Relevant degree in public health, medicine, or a related field.

Tools

  • Familiarity with WHO frameworks and health systems strengthening methodologies.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis in health contexts.
