Lead Software Engineer (Mainframe, Remote)

Job summary

This role involves overseeing the maintenance and development of a critical peer-to-peer file transfer system used in the financial sector, specifically on IBM mainframe platforms.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with IBM mainframe environments (ISPF/TSO, JES).
• Advanced proficiency in Assembler programming, especially in maintaining Panels and Batch processes.
• In-depth knowledge of COBOL programming.
• Familiarity with REXX and the interface between Batch and transport layers.
• Proven experience with cryptographic key procedures and security protocols.
• Proficiency with ConnectDirect or IBM Sterling Integrator.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

• Maintain and enhance the PiNet Batch client software and codebase.
• Implement and validate modifications in Assembler code.
• Provide support and comprehensive documentation for sector participants.
• Facilitate the annual exchange of cryptographic keys (DKMS).
• Conduct DBA tasks related to DBIO and PiNet Batch.
• Coordinate sector-wide activities and address risks associated with legacy systems.
• Assist in other mainframe areas – support and development.
• Methodical and analytical approach to managing legacy systems and risk evaluation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and organizational sectors.
• Proactive in documentation, communication, and upholding governance standards.
• Adhere to security policies and practices; ensure confidentiality and integrity of accessed information; report any suspected information security violations; complete all mandatory security trainings.
