Senior Backend Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure, Remote)

Job summary

This role involves leading the design, evolution, and operation of a Kubernetes-based platform and developer tooling within a cloud environment. The engineer will drive strategic infrastructure initiatives, enhance developer experience, and mentor other engineers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing production Kubernetes clusters across various cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Familiarity with GitOps practices, particularly using ArgoCD or similar tools for continuous delivery workflows.
• Proficient in infrastructure as code, specifically with Terraform, including creating reusable modules and managing state.
• Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and related platform patterns.
• Excellent communication skills for documentation and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation and evolution of production-grade Kubernetes clusters, making key architectural decisions.
• Define and implement GitOps strategies and standards across the organization.
• Establish and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Lead the observability strategy and incident response processes for the platform.
• Collaborate with application teams to onboard services and improve self-service tooling.
• Design security control standards to meet compliance requirements.
• Integrate platform capabilities with continuous integration pipelines.
