Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a cross-functional team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The backend is primarily built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Backend Engineer with a focus on Elixir, including the ability to build, ship, and maintain complex software projects.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar database technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of significant projects and engage in cross-team initiatives.
• Actively contribute to product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements based on technical expertise.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Contribute to the shared codebase and assist in debugging technical and business issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring and team activities.
• Design and implement APIs with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and frontend frameworks like Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in software engineering.

• Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, AWS, GitLab, CI/CD tools.
