Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a product using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database. The position is fully remote and offers the chance to work on complex challenges that impact global employment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Backend Engineer with Elixir, including building and maintaining complex software projects.
• Proficiency with Postgres or similar databases.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Design and implement APIs focusing on performance and scalability.

Skills

• Nice to have: Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is preferred.

Tools

• Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, GitLab, AWS, CI/CD tools.
