Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a cross-functional team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Senior Backend Engineer, with a focus on building, shipping, and maintaining complex software projects.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar database technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Actively engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Design and implement APIs with a focus on performance and scalability.

Skills

• Familiarity with Functional Programming languages (e.g., Elixir, Erlang, Scala) is a plus.
• Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS.
• Frontend experience with frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular is beneficial.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering or a related field.
