Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for various products in a fully remote environment. The backend is primarily built with Elixir and Phoenix, utilizing a Postgres database, with deployments managed through CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Senior Backend Engineer, with a track record of building and maintaining complex software projects.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar database technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of significant projects and engage in cross-team initiatives.
• Actively contribute to product discussions, offering feedback and technical insights for improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Contribute to the shared codebase and assist in debugging technical and business issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Design and implement APIs with a focus on performance and scalability.

Skills

• Experience with Functional Programming languages (e.g., Elixir, Erlang, Scala) is a plus.
• Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with AWS services and front-end frameworks such as React or Next.js is advantageous.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering or a related field.
