Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work on complex challenges that impact businesses worldwide.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Senior Backend Engineer, including building and maintaining complex software projects.
• Proficiency with Postgres or similar databases.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
• Mentor other engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Design and implement APIs with a focus on performance and scalability.

Skills

• Experience with Functional Programming languages (e.g., Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and modern front-end frameworks (Next.js, React, Vue, Angular) is advantageous.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in software engineering or a related field.
