Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a cross-functional team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The backend is primarily built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Backend Engineer with a focus on Elixir, including the ability to build and maintain complex software projects.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar database technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of significant team projects and engage in cross-team initiatives.
• Actively contribute to product discussions, providing technical insights and suggestions for improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Debug and resolve technical and business challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide them in their professional development.
• Design and implement scalable and maintainable APIs.

Skills

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular is advantageous.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is required.
