Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This position involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The role is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work on complex challenges that impact international employment.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes using tools like GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team's domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Mentor other engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Investigate and implement improvements to the platform.
• Design interfaces with performance and accessibility in mind.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and frontend frameworks like Next.js, React, or Vue is a plus.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in software engineering is preferred.
