Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for HR and Payroll products, utilizing Elixir and Phoenix in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in engineering with a focus on secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and enhancing them through iteration.
• Strong systems thinking ability, including clear specification definition and quality assurance.
• Proficiency with Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead major projects and engage in cross-team initiatives.
• Actively contribute to product discussions and suggest improvements.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the team’s domain.
• Provide constructive feedback during code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.
• Design interfaces with a focus on performance and accessibility.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and React/Vue/Angular is advantageous.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in software engineering or a related field.

Tools

• Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, GitLab, AWS, CI/CD tools.
