Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

The role involves developing tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform, utilizing Elixir and Phoenix for backend development, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them through iteration.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Provide product feedback and suggest technical improvements.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.
• Ensure the quality and performance of interfaces and APIs.

Skills

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and React/Vue/Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is required.
