Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This position involves joining a team of engineers focused on developing tools, APIs, and integrations for HR and Payroll products. The backend is primarily built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex challenges that impact global employment solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them through iteration.
• Proficient in Postgres or similar databases.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product discussions, providing technical insights and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform, focusing on performance and accessibility.

Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is required.
