Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for various products. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and enhancing them through iteration.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on significant projects and engage in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Actively contribute to product discussions, providing feedback and technical insights for improvements.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide them in their professional growth.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform, focusing on performance and accessibility.

Skills

• Experience with Functional Programming languages like Elixir, Erlang, or Scala is a plus.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and modern front-end frameworks like React or Next.js is beneficial.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is required.
