Senior Data Engineer (Biotech, Remote)

Job summary

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with extensive experience in Alteryx and Tableau to design and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms. This role involves enhancing engineering standards and ensuring platform reliability in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s; 6+ years with a Master’s; or 3+ years with a PhD; or equivalent.
• At least 5 years in data engineering or analytics platform engineering, including 3+ years of hands-on experience with Alteryx and Tableau in enterprise settings.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance batch and streaming data pipelines using SQL, dbt, and Alteryx.
• Configure and optimize Alteryx Server/Cloud environments, including governance and upgrades.
• Engineer and administer Tableau Server/Cloud, focusing on performance tuning and version upgrades.
• Implement monitoring and alerting systems, troubleshoot incidents, and drive reliability improvements.
• Establish data quality standards and contribute to metadata management.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and data privacy regulations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Provide L2/L3 support and maintain documentation for operational processes.
• Optimize performance and cost efficiency of data solutions.
• Standardize engineering practices and introduce innovations.

Skills

• Proficient in SQL and data modeling; experienced with data transformation tools like Alteryx and dbt.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, Python for automation, and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) is advantageous.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; advanced degrees are preferred.
