Senior Data Engineer (SaaS, Remote or Aarhus)

Job summary

This position focuses on developing and managing the internal data infrastructure for operational insights. The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for creating a reliable data foundation that integrates various data sources to enhance business performance analysis.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in building data warehouses or analytics infrastructure.
• Strong SQL and data modeling capabilities, with a focus on designing effective schemas.
• Proven experience in architecting integrations across multiple data sources.
• Familiarity with transformation frameworks such as dbt.
• Experience with modern data stack tools, preferably BigQuery.
• Background in B2B SaaS, with an understanding of usage data and customer health metrics.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement an internal data warehouse, including architecture and data ingestion.
• Set up and maintain integrations from various systems, ensuring data quality and reliability.
• Define and enforce data models and standards for data correctness and freshness.
• Own pipeline observability and implement data validation processes.
• Document data models and lineage for clarity and onboarding purposes.
• Make architectural decisions that will influence internal data handling for the future.

Skills

• Experience with pipeline orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect is a plus.
• Commercial awareness regarding the impact of data on retention and business decisions.
• Experience with integrating CRM, CS, or billing platforms is advantageous.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in data engineering or a related field.

Tools

• BigQuery, dbt, SQL, and various data integration tools.
