Privacy & Compliance Officer (Software, Remote)

Job summary

This role involves driving global privacy and compliance initiatives within a growing international software company, focusing on GDPR and other data protection frameworks. The Privacy & Compliance Officer will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure responsible innovation and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of legal experience, preferably in-house at a global software or technology firm.
• Strong knowledge of GDPR and familiarity with additional privacy laws, particularly U.S. regulations.
• Experience in negotiating data processing agreements.
• Interest in privacy governance and regulatory developments.
• Broad compliance experience, including knowledge of regulatory and information security frameworks.
• Ability to balance legal risks with commercial objectives.
• Experience with ISO 27001 or similar certification frameworks is advantageous.
• Proficient in English with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead global privacy and compliance efforts, focusing on GDPR and related frameworks.
• Monitor evolving global regulations and advise on necessary policy adaptations.
• Maintain and enhance privacy governance documentation and Records of Processing Activities.
• Conduct vendor due diligence and risk assessments related to data processing.
• Review and negotiate Data Processing Agreements with clients and sub-processors.
• Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to implement privacy-by-design principles.
• Develop and manage the compliance framework across various regulatory areas.
• Identify compliance risks and design governance processes to mitigate them.
• Support ISO 27001 certification efforts and ensure audit readiness.
• Create and deliver internal compliance training programs.
