About the role

Job summary

This position involves conducting research on the diversity and behavior of Bacillus spp. in dairy processing at elevated temperatures, aimed at enhancing food safety in the dairy industry.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in microbiology, biology, veterinary science, dairy or food science, or a related field.
  • Strong background in experimental microbiology and spore-forming bacteria.
  • Experience with molecular techniques (qPCR and sequencing) and microscopy is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a research project in collaboration with the dairy industry and research group.
  • Collect and review existing data on Bacillus spp. in dairy products.
  • Investigate the prevalence and diversity of Bacillus spp. in dairy processes using cultivation and sequencing methods.
  • Model growth kinetics and toxin production of Bacillus spp. at temperatures above 40 °C.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications, risk management tools, and participation in conferences.
  • Engage in teaching and supervision of BSc and MSc student projects.
