About the role

Job summary

This position involves conducting research and development of open-source electronic design automation (EDA) tools aimed at enhancing chip design processes. The role focuses on creating hardware generators and developing a functional verification framework to improve interoperability and productivity in chip design.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering (equivalent to a two-year master's degree).
  • Experience in hardware design using languages such as Chisel, VHDL, or Verilog (Chisel preferred).
  • Understanding of chip design and verification processes.
  • Basic programming skills in Java or Scala.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on EDA tooling and hardware generation.
  • Design and implement hardware generators.
  • Develop verification methods, including functional verification in Scala/Java.
  • Integrate developments into the Chips JU project ODE4EV-PIV.
  • Co-supervise students and potentially contribute to teaching activities.

Skills

  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (Chisel, VHDL, Verilog).
  • Knowledge of chip design and verification methodologies.
  • Programming skills in Java/Scala.

Education

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent.

Tools

  • Open-source EDA tools such as OpenROAD and LibreLane.
  • Programming environments for Java and Scala.
