Job summary

This position focuses on advancing digital twin technologies and structural analysis for wind turbine blades, contributing to the green energy transition. The role involves collaboration within a cross-disciplinary team to support R&D in the wind energy sector.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Strong expertise in structural mechanics, structural dynamics, and composite materials.
  • Proficiency in software development, preferably in Python and/or C++, with experience in git workflows.
  • Familiarity with sensor data integration and damage assessment techniques.
  • Understanding of digital twin concepts, including model updating and lifecycle predictions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop efficient reduced-order models for large composite wind turbine blades.
  • Design hybrid modelling approaches that integrate sensor data for real-time digital twin performance.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation digital twin frameworks.
  • Translate modelling outputs into user-friendly applications, including APIs and immersive visualizations.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications and industrial demonstrations.

Skills

  • Experience with hybrid modelling and machine learning techniques.
  • Knowledge of data standards and FAIR data principles for research software.
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to generate new ideas and solutions.

Education

  • A PhD degree in a relevant field is required.

Tools

  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++, git, and data integration tools.
