About the role

Job summary

A postdoctoral researcher is sought to develop machine learning and generative modeling techniques aimed at designing antibiotics that can withstand antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This role involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, integrating machine learning, medicinal chemistry, and microbiology to create an AI-driven experimental system.

Qualifications

  • PhD in computational biology/chemistry, machine learning, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven publication record and experience with advanced machine learning applied to biological or molecular data.
  • Strong skills in probabilistic modeling, deep learning, and generative modeling.
  • Experience in computational biology or molecular machine learning.
  • Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and train generative protein models to predict resistance variants.
  • Design large-scale DNA libraries based on in silico predictions for experimental testing.
  • Build and evaluate probabilistic deep learning models to predict bacterial growth.
  • Propose novel compounds optimized for broad-spectrum activity against resistance mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with experimental partners to design screens and interpret results.
  • Publish findings in leading journals and present at international conferences.

Skills

  • Proficiency in machine learning techniques relevant to biological data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration and experimental biology.

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and tools for data analysis and modeling.
