About the role

Job summary

The position focuses on developing innovative chemical strategies for designing quantum materials by integrating functional molecules with two-dimensional materials. The research aims to explore the incorporation of tailored molecules into van der Waals crystals to manipulate magnetism, electronic structure, and symmetry at the atomic level, with applications in spintronics and quantum technologies.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field, with the possibility to apply before completion.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize and investigate molecularly engineered quantum materials.
  • Design molecular intercalants and incorporate them into layered materials.
  • Conduct advanced structural characterization and physical property measurements.
  • Utilize techniques such as three-dimensional electron diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray crystallography.
  • Measure magnetic and electronic properties and analyze structure–property relationships.
  • Actively disseminate research findings through publications and presentations at international conferences.

Skills

  • Strong background in synthetic coordination and solid-state chemistry.
  • Experience with advanced characterization techniques and physical property measurements.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.

Education

  • A completed PhD degree in a relevant scientific discipline is required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with electron diffraction instrumentation, X-ray crystallography facilities, and synchrotron radiation sources is advantageous.
