Postdoctoral Researcher in Social and Economic Dynamics of Renewable Energy (Remote)

Job summary

This position involves conducting interdisciplinary research focused on the social and economic dynamics of offshore wind energy as part of a European project aimed at integrating environmental and social considerations into planning processes.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant Social Science & Humanities discipline such as Economic Geography, Planning, or Sociology.
• Strong academic background emphasizing social implications of renewable energy development.
• Proven experience with social and environmental aspects of renewable energy projects and sustainability indicators.
• Knowledgeable about social acceptance and energy justice related to renewable energy expansion.
• Familiarity with strategic and spatial planning of renewable energy infrastructures.
• Experience in qualitative research methods.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers and international partners on the SUSTAINOW project.
• Qualify assessments of social and economic impacts of offshore wind farms.
• Develop and integrate qualitative and quantitative indicators for assessing impacts.
• Conduct fieldwork including stakeholder interviews and focus groups.
• Assess the application of decision-support tools in planning processes.
• Support the development of stakeholder engagement frameworks.
• Facilitate workshops and disseminate research findings through publications and conferences.
• Participate in teaching and supervising BSc and MSc students.
