Job summary

This position involves advanced research in structural modelling and experimental-numerical correlation for large composite wind turbine blades, contributing to the green transition in energy. The role is part of a cross-disciplinary team focused on high-fidelity simulations and damage mechanics.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Strong expertise in high-fidelity numerical modelling of composite structures, including finite-element and multi-scale models.
  • Advanced knowledge in damage mechanics for composites, including coding and scripting skills.
  • Experience in structural testing of large composite components.
  • Proven ability to correlate experimental data with numerical predictions.
  • Excellent English communication skills, with experience in scientific publications and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply high-fidelity models to analyze structural behavior and failure mechanisms of wind turbine blades.
  • Advance damage mechanics modelling, linking local damage to global structural responses.
  • Conduct numerical-experimental correlation to validate models and support damage detection.
  • Provide benchmarks and validation for reduced-order models and digital twin developments.

Skills

  • Expertise in damage detection and localization methods.
  • Experience with model verification, validation, and uncertainty assessment.
  • Knowledge of composite blade manufacturing processes.
  • Innovative thinking and ability to generate new ideas.

Education

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

Tools

  • Proficiency in numerical modelling software and tools for structural analysis.
